Sandblasting was initially used mainly for the treatment of metal surfaces before painting since sandblasting determines a perfect cleaning, roughening of the surface with consequent better adhesion of the paint that will be applied.

Subsequently, in the last twenty years, new applications have emerged, especially in the construction sector, aimed at:

  • Renovation and Cleaning
  • Maintenance
  • Treatment of New Constructions
  • Restoration

Renovation and Cleaning

Renovation and cleaning of interiors and exteriors
In interior renovation, sandblasting can be used to clean radiators, handrails, parts in stone, marble, granite, wooden beams, removing old paint, smog, residues from encrustations derived from fumes, etc.

 Refurbishment of old deteriorated plasters
Instead of removing and completely redoing an old plaster, with sandblasting it is possible to remove exclusively the damaged part, without removing the intact and well anchored part. By water sandblasting it is also possible to eliminate dust and moisten the surface. In this way, we will find ourselves with the support ready to be restored.

 Renovation and cleaning of exteriors
In the renovation of exteriors, the applications are:

  •  cleaning of façades with removal of old paint, graffiti, smog, etc.
  •  cleaning of gates, railings, metal windows, etc.
  •  recovery and restoration of reinforced concrete parts where iron parts have emerged, with the sandblasting treatment the oxide is eliminated and the part is perfectly cleaned, thus obtaining the optimal preparation for a good anchoring of the new product.

Maintenance

The sandblasters can be used by the company to carry out maintenance cleaning of equipment such as cranes, concrete mixers, scaffolding, formwork, etc.

Treatment of New Constructions

In new constructions, sandblasting is convenient to perform:

  • the removal of the release agent on structures cast in reinforced concrete, in order to obtain a good anchoring in the application of waterproofing or painting products
  • the surface treatment of parts in marble, granite or stone in order to obtain the satin finish, writings, drawings and non-slip surfaces.

Restoration

In the restoration, the sandblasting operation is used by adopting special precautions so as to be able to use very fine powders, even non-abrasive, projected in very modest quantities at a very low pressure. The application is normally aimed at carrying out smog or graffiti cleaning operations on monuments, church facades and vintage buildings.

Engraving

In the funeral sector or in glass factories, clear and precise incisions are made using vinyl moulds placed on the slab itself and using both recovery and free jet sandblasting machines.
